Supporting the Dick Lane Velodrome Youth Cycling League & Scholarship
The Dick Lane Velodrome (DLV) invites you to join the 1st Annual Hal Mueller Lap-A-Thon to benefit
the Dick Lane Velodrome Youth Cycling League.
This year, to honor and remember Hal and continue to keep his spirit alive and thriving the DLV is going to throw a party, a bike ride and a fundraiser all rolled into one.
We’re calling it the Hal Mueller Lap-A-Thon.
Riders from our velodrome community, as well as special honored guests will be raising money for the velodrome’s programs by doing what they already do; riding laps around the track. Supporters will be able to donate a fixed amount or pledge money for each lap a rider completes. At the end of the evening we will honor the male and female who rides the most laps and the single largest fundraiser for the Lap-A-Thon.
Hal Mueller was a member of the Dick Lane Velodrome family. He pinned the number 38 to his jersey every week when he raced. His number 38 is now our Spirit Number. It’s our guiding force at the Dick Lane Velodrome to, in Hal’s words, “Stink It Up Out There” regardless of how good or bad you are. It’s one of the many lessons we try to teach our participants in the Youth Cycling League.
We run our Youth Cycling League as a free program for the East Point and Greater Metro Atlanta community. We provide bicycles for free use and professional instruction to get kids interested and involved in the sport of trak cycling. We also support some of our more accomplished riders with scholarships to cover adult racing fees and support to get them to National Championship competition. We do all of this with the help of modest donations and sponsorships.
Your participation and fundraising for the Lap-A-Thon will help the Youth Cycling League continue these endeavors for many years to come.
